World War II Themed Novel Recommendations (European Theater Edition)

If any of you out there are like me, then you’re always looking for a great historical fiction book. I always gravitate towards World War II-themed novels, especially those that feature interesting female characters. A history buff, WWII has been a favorite era of mine to study. In my pursuit of getting my hands on anything WWII-related, I’ve compiled a list of great books, featuring incredible authors like Kate Quinn, that cover the greatest generation.

There are A LOT; I tried to organize them down by genre, but there’s so much overlap in fact and fiction that I didn’t feel right officially sorting them.

So, without further ado, here is the chaotic list of literary treasures!

Literally my favorite book of ALL TIME. I kid you not when I say I go to bed listening to this book on audible. It’s also available on Amazon for $9.40.

If you haven’t heard of this book before, please let me introduce you to one of the most beautiful novels written (in my humble opinion). Fingers crossed for a movie soon! This one is available for ~$14 but I think is free with Kindle unlimited.

This is a great book featuring women in different capacities. Available on Amazon for $11 and I think Kindle Unlimited for Free?

I’m still working through this one actually! But so far, love! Available for $10.99 on Amazon

A thought-provoking story about a man placed in a difficult position during the war. It is a little pricier on Amazon but I think it’s substantially cheaper through kindle!

Okay, this book is all about a real-life WWII baddie! Its quite long, but the entire story is almost hard to believe — if it wasn’t true! Find it here for $19!

I’ll admit, I like the series better than the book (just because I prefer TV to reading), but this book fills in all the juicy bits of information you’re left craving. Available here for ~$14!

You’ve probably heard of this one before — there’s a new series out! But if you’re looking to read before you watch, check it out here for ~$14!

This one I picked up in an airport on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It follows the lives of three separate women as they navigate through their own challenging circumstances of the war. It’s available on Amazon for only $8.5!

Okay, so this one is geared toward younger learners, but this story stuck with me. It’s such a powerful story of a young boy living through the war in Warsaw. Could be a great book to read with your student! Find it here for $11.

Oh gosh, y’all. There are so many good books out there! This is where I’ll leave it now, but don’t be surprised if I do a part 2. As always, I must disclaim that as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, but I do my best to share with you the best prices with a variety of accessibility!

Happy reading!!
