Is the Loch Ness monster real!?

This is such a fun debate topic for students! Let’s be real, it’s a fun topic for adults too— the village of Loch Ness has built an industry off of it.

The mystery of the Loch Ness monster has long tantalized many people and over the years, many theories have developed to explain the existence of the mythical creature.

In this lesson, students are challenged to consider the different perspectives written about in the Kids Britannica article about the Loch Ness monster. They are then guided through writing a persuasive paragraph/essay where they are required to pick a side: to be or not to be (Nessie)!

The lesson breaks down the important parts of a persuasive writing piece. It helps students organize their information and provides sample evidence that they can use (although they will have to discern which quotes back up their position!).
