Books to Read if You’re Taking AP Euro Next Year

Are you taking AP European History next year? Are you excited!?

Okay well maybe you are maybe you aren’t…BUT if you’re looking for an easy way to get ahead, here’s my tip: read one of these books!

In my opinion, one of the best things you can do is familiarize yourself with the worlds of history. What I mean by this is work to become familiar with terms like ‘vichy’ and ‘national assembly’ in context. Books allow you to enter the world of people in the past and get a better understanding of how the terms you will learn in class are interconnected.

So, without further ado, check out these books:

This is a fun book about a badass woman during the French Revolution.

Based on the true story of an incredible woman named Nancy Wake, this is a long read that is more than worth it! You will learn a lot about France’s role in World War II.

This is one of my FAVORITE books of all time. It’s all about female spies in World War I.

Clearly…I love Kate Quinn. This book is about World War II, but the most relevant character to AP Euro is the Russian fighter pilot. She is one of the “night witches” and has a fascinating story.

Ever wonder why Henry VIII created the church of England? Well, here’s your answer.

A beautiful story about a woman living through the Renaissance.

This story is great for getting a view of Russia building into its revolution!
