AP U.S. History Period 1 Review: SAQ & MCQ Paired Activity
Who has an APUSH period 1 quiz coming up!? (Period 1 will be the first quiz you take for the class over the first content you learn! Don’t worry, the jargon takes a while to get used to).
As you dive into AP U.S. History this year, mastering Period 1 (1491-1607) is key. Here’s a streamlined strategy to prepare you for your first test AND the AP exam at the end of the year.
Work through a set of MCQs on early Native American societies, European exploration, and initial interactions. Focus on understanding the rationale behind each answer, not just memorizing facts.
After completing the MCQs, carefully review your responses. (Answers are at the bottom of the document if you’re using mine!). Correct any mistakes and reinforce your knowledge by cross-checking with your study materials.
Use the understanding gained from the MCQs to tackle SAQs. This helps in formulating detailed and accurate answers based on your reinforced knowledge.
This approach not only solidifies your grasp of Period 1 but also builds essential test-taking skills. Start strong and set the stage for a successful year in AP U.S. History!
